Seymour Hicks plays the title role in the first sound version of the Dickens classic about the miser who's visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve. This British import is notable for being the only adaptation of this story with an invisible Marley's Ghost and its Expressionistic cinematography. This is the uncut 78 minute version.

  • Christmas is not the same with out a scrooge movie.

  • i always like older films, its neat to see the time period furniture the language & how they made do with what they had back then for special effects. i also like to think back then Christmas meant so much more than it seems to now. they would be happy with an apple in their Christmas stocking, try that now ha ha!

  • Foarte frumos!!

  • ARE THERE NO WORKHOUSES???

  • This film is very entertaining. You should try the 1938 version, that one is just as good, perhaps even better, but thats probably just my taste. the part of Sgrooge in the 1938 version, is better anyway.I saw this one many years ago as a child at the cinema, here in southampton england.

  • Thank you for the post. I wish I could have recorded it. Good version

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 The dinner at the Lord Mayor's was referenced in the book. Dickens just didn't make a big issue out of it.

  • Same here, not seen this version before, thanks for uploading...

  • My fav movie of all time

  • I've never seen this one. I love the Alistair Sim version, so will have to watch this.
