  • @spipper It was made after Mark Mulcahy's wife died to help him continue his music career while raising his twin three year old daughters.

    You can like this song and it wouldn't mean you weren't being loyal

  • The same way Polaris made the song, The National's cover feels conclusive as if to say "this is it", or "goodbye". The song comes off to me as saying goodbye to someone or something you've been around for years and can't move on in life without. And it's not just a simple "goodbye for so/so long", but rather, "goodbye forever". It's this same feeling that keeps me hanging on this song.
