  • One of the aims of kata is to increase your power. He had good waza. I just would have liked to see more power behind the waza. In my dojo, we are constantly told to train as we fight. That means hitting as hard in kata as we would in an actual fight. When a kata is done correctly, every block and every stike should be done with such power that no one would want to get in the way of any part of your kata. And, when you train like that, you fight like that.

  • @tree6014 WOW. You would like to see more POWER from Shinjo Masanobu Sensei??? I have never heard that about him in my life!!!! If you think he is not showing any power, I think your dojo must be quite awesome. Congratulations!

Wondering what system you train in and where? How long??? Good Luck with your training.

  • thank you so much - if you have more vids please post!

  • I sure will. Thank you so very much for stopping in and watching. I have some old footage coming soon, so stay tuned.

  • @franklin3321 yes? basic common knowledge! What are you trying to say????

  • @glimmerman108 Toguchi Seikichi= SHOREIKAN GOJU

  • @tree6014 With respect to you, I think your comment sounds disrespectful to Masanobu, Sensei. Perhaps you did not mean it in such. Sounds as many young KarateKa who idolize the Shitei Kata performed now-a-days. Their performance of Kata could be described as Laughable with all unnecessary pausing and lack of power for aesthetic.

  • @GonzaloGoju Arashiro Masanobu was originally a student of Toguchi Seikichi. He learned all of his kata from Toguchi Sensei except Kururunfa and Suparenpei. I have to look up the names of the two sensei who taught him those two kata. He left Toguchi's dojo and changed his name to Shinjo Masanobu. (Same Kanji, just a different pronunication for New Castle.) Yagi Meitoku became his ADVISOR when he opened the Shobukan.

  • Quite impresive!!!

  • My grandfather--nonno as we italians say-- was extremely impressed when he watched how fast i ran laps and pushed myself in my traditional jujitsu class. He told me he never pushed himself like that in his life-and he was in construction. I wonder what he would think of this video, seeing that a man his age can have as much and more power and strength than i have! Pretty amazing. 2:50 would scare the pants off of most people-but i'm not surpised; I know that martial artists know no bounds.

  • How Old is this Respected GoJu Ryu practitioner? 70, 80 and can still do a kata with such grace and power. Okinawans are AWESOME!....

  • If you pause it right on 3:00 - you would have a great picture to include in a memorial wall or collage for Goju Ryu practitioners.

  • EXCELLENT.

Performance by a Master, in a Masterful manner- Focus, Power, Balance, Control, Execution, Bunkai intentions

We should just Watch and Learn.

  • @tree6014 I'm sorry if I misunderstood your words.
