ive got two even older. a 1935 briggs model A and a 1951 briggs model WMB. the WMB is in the condition where i think it could be a new old stock engine because the paint isnt even burned off the head, and the model A has the highest compression ive seen out of an engine. it feels like it could be higher than even a new engine. i love those old cast iron block engines because they never wear out, but they are just too heavy for any practical use

i have a 1969 briggs 3.5 hp i found it in the trash it runs perfect and starts easy and never done anything to it

I know that 69 in the code refers to the year. I didn't know that the manufacture date was in the code too.

i have thie exact same engine but a 1968 year mounted on a toro tiller. it sat outside for 10+years, started in 3pulls with new gas. points didnt need to be cleaned or even the diaphram in the carb changed. that shows quality of the older engines
