Usual story about a robot with emotions and memories of the past, still didn't stop me from bawling like a 1 year old

I think the robot didn't have emotions of the past. The robot just recorded it all, it's up to humans, us as viewers to feel the emotions in the robot's place. Because we know how memories, specially happy ones, are valuable, we feel sad when it all gets deleted.

I think this is what makes this video unique and beautiful. With no words or feelings from any character we are sucked in into it's sadness.

It's like the girl died when the memories were deleted, not with the explosion.
