Please give me a second grace
Please give me a second face
I've fallen far down
The first time around
Now I just sit on the ground in your way

Now if it's time to recompense for what's done
Come, come sit down on the fence in the sun
And the clouds will roll by
And we'll never deny
It's really too hard for to fly.

Please tell me your second name
Please play me your second game
I've fallen so far
For the people you are
I just need your star for a day.

So come, come ride in my my street-car by the bay
For now I must know how fine you are in your way
And the sea sure as I
But she won't need to cry
For it's really too hard for to fly.

  • Correct MS2171. On the documentary entitled "A Skin Too Few" it consists of the only known footage of Nick. Less than a minute of him and his sister on a beach when he was approximately 3 or 4. It is a shame that there is no other footage of him.

  • Fun Fact: Heath Ledger had an obsession with Nick Drake and his music, and was in discussion with multiple film companies about making a film about Nick Drake, with Heath Ledger to play Drake! Such a shame that there both now up there.

  • @napalmocean correct bro! I think someone needs to do it, someone of class and talent (Ledger would have been prefect) because Drake hasn't been given all the credit and praise that he so evidently deserves!

  • -_- I was soooo fucking happy that in none of Nick's videos that stupid annoying overrated kid who I refuse to name was mentioned. Thanks a fucking lot for ruinning it, whoever you were.

I cannot find a reason why you would ever think of that kid while listening to this amazing uncomparable music.

  • This song is so happy and so sad. It cries for missed opportunities, but most of all it yearns for second chances. It is a hopeful song. It makes me want to wake up and carpe diem - to pick up where I left off and do all the things that should have been done a long time ago. When this song begins playing, I see light taking over the darkness. There are shimmering dew drops on grass and leaves. My eyes are closed as I walk towards the light with gentle breeze blowing in my face. I feel alive.

  • @iggypopisagod That would have been fucking AMAZING.

  • @PAULLONDEN I wasn't implying it to be negative to be centered and on track, it is just that his perception of what he desired from music and art was unforgiving to moderation and succumbing to surroundings. I think it slightly dimeaning of him that you think he is due for a 'kick up the backside'. Also your trying to analyze his condition devolves the entire. I believe he wanted his music to be a product of soaring over his condition not using it to be creative. I just wouldn't say that.

  • amen!

  • I never would thought about it... I started off with Led Zeppelin as the strongest influence on me. But then there's Nick Drake.. who wasnt known about until after he died! And I know his paranoia and depression first hand..I could never perform live and i'd be so scared that my voice would just be a whisper! Kinda like him, and... me..

  • @Havelneft "on track" doesn't necessarily have to be something negative.

  • @PAULLONDEN Some people don't want to be 'on track'.
