CCA-treated wood can be found anywhere outdoor lumber is being used. Due to the increased risk to children, the uses currently receiving the most attention are play sets, decks, and picnic tables. Arsenic can leach to the surface of the treated wood, becoming accessible for absorption through exposed skin touching the wood surface and, especially in the case of children, ingestion through normal hand-to-mouth behavior. The arsenic can also leach into the ground surrounding the location of the treated wood, providing yet another exposure conduit for children playing in the area.

Arsenate, the form of arsenic found in CCA, does not absorb through the skin. You can breathe it in while it burns or ingest it. But to reach any levels to hurt you would require you to eat that entire play set and your neighbors. Fork and knife anyone? You'll get more arsenic in one lobster. The new green treated PT is a great replacement, so if you still have concerns - rebuild with this.

Cedar Shake Shingles are still being treated with the stuff. If you have a cedar roof you probably have this on your home.
