@aji8 i forgot to mention even if a rotary loses compression due to operator fuck up, it will still run to allow safe landing for instance in an aviation app. or get back to the pit, or home even. Aviators choose rotarys for their mission critical reliability, thats just a fact. They wanna be able to LIVE if something fails. piston engines being cheaper to rebuild is only a concern if you fuck up your engines often, which i have a feeling some of the less intelligent people do quite often. sucks

I am also doin' a similar swap stuffin' a 229 V6 into a 90 RX7- lotsa questions for you if you can reply, thanks- nice job; the rotor motor? It's been for sale on Rx7 website and elsewhere- nobody wants it for $400 with the auto trans and all associated parts- maybe I'll keep the weird rotor and hang it on the wall in garage.

It's your car , but if i had that car , I'd put the tripple circle tail lights on it , change those pizza cutter rims , and give it a fresh coat of new paint , (a brighter red) , just saying , also , how hard was the job of getting that vortech in the rx7? I'm currently rebuilding a 4.3 vortech v6 in my cellar , looking for a 2nd gen to drop it in atm

I have an 87 NA that I'm thinking of putting either a low mileage turbo JDM engine from ebay in, or a nice LS1. I figure the JDM would be the cheaper way to go, and its turbo; but whats gonna be faster? I've seen video's of LS1 swaps and i jizz in my pants a little because of the resonance. This car sounds pretty nice; being a V6 and all. KUDOS

i put a 4.3 in my first gen rx-7 and i love it. even with "blow by" and being abused before i got it, that car halls ass. i chose a v6 in an attempt to conserve fuel. and it seems to to pretty good and i have plenty of go power. check out my chanle some time.

Maybe he wants to be able to drive his car down the street, and not have to make sure his engine is still able to run properly after he gets back. Rotaries are pieces of shit, get over it.

@EatPez like bigwill66 says,''it just sounds wrong'', to low in rev's.no offense though.I think,a rotary engine belongs in an RX7,[to improve use a 20B or a 26B] for instance,in europe some people put in a straight 6 in an opel ascona B or manta B. but some people DO understand what to do,they use a 16 valve cyl.head on the 4 cyl engine.
I say again, sounds like an W.W.II P.T.boat.

@99rsk Awesome. Which PT boat are you talking about? The early ones with three 1200hp V12s, or the later ones with aftercooled supercharges that made 1850hp each. Even using the early boats, 3600hp sounds pretty mean, doesn't it?

okay puttin a v8 in a rotary is a disgrace enough why the fuck a v6 if your that cheap why wouldnt u just leave it alone and buy a civic
85VWWesty 1 year ago
@85VWWesty This point has been argued a dozen times on this page alone. So, to summize, if you think putting a v6 or v8 is a disgrace, why don't you buy up all the non-running RX7s in the world to protect them? Until then STFU and let me do with my property what I see fit. And no one said this was done because we're 'cheap', it was actually more expensive since there are no pre-made kits and we had to engineer everything. You rotary purists make me laugh.
