@gardenofarcane Oh I know once you do something 100 times you're able to do more in the same style without painting from life, I thought you meant the way he starts and progresses to add the paint to the canvas :)
His other work looks quite interesting, I love the light / fog effects, I'm sure I there are a few things to learn from these landscapes.

@calin4thewin It's not a technical term, my point was that if you paint in one style for a long time, you can predict the outcome of the painting, and it's not something bad, what I mean was that this painter must be painting similar pictures for a very long time, that's how he can play around while he paints. search for his work on google you can see on closer look that it's not very detailed work but still it's sort of impressionist technique.

@gardenofarcane Can you give me some details please? Google doesn't seem to find much about "formula painting". Are there other names for it? Can you give me some other painters' names that used this style?
