@KenseiElsword And again, a battle between Noble Phantasms is a battle between mysteries and legends; the stronger mystery will always rewrite the weaker. AFAIK, I don't think the details of the battle between Saber Alter and Berserker were ever completely explained. It could be that Excalibur Morgan took out a chunk of lives, or whether Dark Berserker was regurgitated out without his God Hand, or whether Shirou's Nine Lives actually took out all his stock of lives.

@KenseiElsword Actually, I was wrong about Caliburn being A++. It appears that Excalibur itself is only A++, and between Excalibur and Caliburn, Caliburn is the weaker of the two as it's a decorative weapon. I'm not sure why you say that A+++ to A++ isn't necessarily lower; given the same circumstances of usage, an A++ will always deal less than an A+++, and I'm not sure why you would be comparing them otherwise. Since it does get degraded by an entire rank, perhaps A -> B does make more sense.

@kimwipe There's no proof that Caliburn is actually A++, nor is there proof lower rank means taking out the +.

A++ has the same normal power as A+++, a ++ means it MAY do triple the power (circumstances), and so on (possibly referring to the blast). That means A+++ to A++ essentially isn't lower, A>B would sound much more logical.

Plus didn't full Exblast (dark sakura) do like 10 lives or something (can't remember) Either way by the time Shirou fought Berserker he had 1 life and is also blind.

@kimwipe Err, I meant that Excalibur was EX.

Anyway, the reason that Saber's attack was so powerful compared to Rin's attack (even if they were both rank A) is that the scale of damage between regular attacks and NPs is different. A rank C NP can match an A-rank attack. That being said, Excalibur (and Caliburn by extension) possesses an Anti-Fortress designation, which generally implies massive amounts of damage.

@narutardkyuubi Huh, that's weird. I could've sworn that Excalibur was A+++ but I was wrong, I guess. God Hand functions by 'negating damage from attacks', not reducing damage. If an attack is not explicitly rank A, all damage from it is nullified. Note that this applies separately to weapons and NPs. God Hand must also revive Berserker (restock) before immunity to an attack is developed; this would explain why Caliburn was able to omfghax Berserker in a single blow.

@kimwipe Maybe Caliburn has a "Do extra damage to monsters with magic armor" clause on it or something. Or it was used to kill a monster that could regenerate like nuts and has a "Do extra damage to regenerators" thing.

@kimwipe Hmm maybe. I get how NP's work now, but Excalibur is explicitly rated as A++, and Caliburn is stated, in the Weapon section, as weaker than Excalibur due to it being decorative. Even if Caliburn's rank is A+, Shirou's Projectioned Caliburn would be A at best, and therefore have the same power as Rin's jewel. Also, does God's Hand reduce damage if the attack isn't nullified? If it does, that might explain it, since the Weapon screen also says Caliburn's has different characteristics.

@narutardkyuubi God hand uses stocked lives to regenerate Berserker yes. Ilya's ginourmous mana pool lets him regenerate those lives though. Caliburn pooled damage over into Berserker's stocked lives because it was so powerful.

@narutardkyuubi Actually, I correct myself, Caliburn would only be at A++ rank, since it was a Projection by Shirou, and was subsequently marked down one grade.
