@imavaughanstar I disagree, as would most, that Nadal had improved in 2010. He did serve better at the US Open and served pretty well in the final of Roland Garros, but a few matches don't tell the full story. I disagree that his transition game had improved, we're not in 2000 here, Wimbledon is slow, Nadal only came into the net to put away easy balls. I mean, he nearly lost to Haase and Petzschner in 2010 Wimbledon. 2008 he played better tennis, no question.

@MaratSafinVideos he played great in 2008, but 2010 was even better. In 2008 his groundies were their usual perfect, his transition game had improved dramatically (and with good results, ie. wimbledon) and obviously his success that year reflected it, but there's no doubt in my mind that by 2010 he was way better, an extra slam compared to 2008 as well as the clay slam for the first time, along with having improved his serve big time, his groundies/net game improved a little as well.

@imavaughanstar I didn't for one second go into that nonsense. I guess you're right in terms of success but I do believe he was playing better in 2008, so it's a little strange to identify 2010 as his best season. Berdych playing great...I disagree. Good but he didn't win one title and never done much of significance aside from Wimbledon. For the most part he beat who he was expected to and lost to those he was expected to, when his game truly allows for otherwise.

@MaratSafinVideos we might argue Federer took advantage of Safin never realizing his true talent or Hewitt's form dropping, and say that those first 7 slams were luck, but how ridiculous would that be? The hypothetical crap goes on and on, but the truth is you only need to be better than the guy on the other side of the net to win, and if his form is worse than usual that's not your fault. Besides in 2010 Berdych/Soderling were both playing great, Rafa was just twice as good.

@imavaughanstar Rafael Nadal played far better tennis in 2008 but he took advantage of others' poor form in 2010.

Agassi's 1995 season reminds me of Rafa's in 2009. Both won Aus Open, both were world number ones, Agassi says in his autobiography winning the Grand Slam was his goal that year and some critics spoke about Rafa possibly completing that goal in 2009. Both had dismal losses at the French following their wins in Australia, both were told after that their 'careers were over' and both came back in the following years to experience the best of their careers (for Rafa so far that is).
Kafelnikov, great technique, great player!
