Once you get the right modules installed in Drupal blogging is very similar to Wordpress. You can write the article like in Wordpress making changes to the text, putting in links, tables, and you can upload images on the site (without FTP) and then put them right into the article. It's just not set up that way at first and there's a learning curve to figure out how to use it. Lynda . com's site has a great video series on how to use it.

You are not alone... In the beginning drupal kicks everyone ass. I still love drupal though. I have expend so much time with it that now, it is hard for me to look elsewhere.
Don't get me wrong, it is not that I don't like other cms's... But It is hard for me to multitask with too many different environments. I rather stick with one and do it well. Drupal is really deep...
Since you wrote this, are you still not feeling it?

formating text ?!! what .. ever heard of wysiwyg . if you dont know how to ftp an image you should not be in any web based job .. and users can also use a wysiwyg to upload images.. of cause if you dont know how to drive a ferrari dont get in one .. hint you change gears on the steering wheel ;)

Sorry but everything you said about drupal is wrong. Yes it had a steep learning curve but once you pass that you can do anything with it.

No kidding Drupal, I feel, is pretty complex. I've been developing websites for over 7 years and have built numerous web applications using complex frameworks like Zend and I must say Drupal is just kicking my butt. Using modules is fine but not when you need full control of your layout and want to add custom functionality because a client wants it and you can't find a module for it - then get ready for a roller coaster ride. I've been studying Drupal for a month now and I'm NOT feeling it..

wow is that wrong. please get your facts right before educating others.

This guy hasn't used Drupal before. This reminds me of my dad who barely knows how to use Word because when you click, File, New, it asks him if he wants to open a blank document or one of hundreds if not thousands of templates. It just overwhelms him and blows his mind and he's like a deer in the headlights instead of just clicking blank document. FTP'ing images is like the old people hitting carriage return because they think it's like those old typewriters rather than letting the text wrap.

Sounds like you probably haven't used Drupal or aren't a developer? Of course you don't need to FTP images to the server if you set it up right and add a couple of modules.
The power of Drupal is in its scalability and flexibility – it doesn't pin you down by deciding for you what your rich text editor is going to be. This obviously makes it less of an out-of-the box solution, but that's not really the market it is aimed at. Drupal is also widely considered the best for user / role management.
Hey there! thanks for giving some insight into the difference between Wordpress and Drupal....You've mentioned knowing CSS and HTML is needed to be able to use Drupal and I liked the MS Word analogy....I would like to ask, apart from HTML and CSS, does one need to know other scripting languages such as PHP to work with Drupal? knowing that both Wordpress and Drupal are built on PHP...thanks again for the video.

@shoofeer1 Great questions but no, you don't really need to know PHP unless you want to fix the things that should work but don't or make new features of in Drupal.
