The video was a mix of footage from Free Willy and the Dangerous World Tour. The song was one of the biggest hits from Dangerous, staying in the top 40 for over six weeks in the UK. The single achieved even greater success in the U.S., where it sold over 500,000 copies and stayed in the top 10 for six weeks, peaking at number 7 and later being certified Gold. The single has sold 1,312,000 copies worldwide."Will You Be There" won the MTV Movie Award for "Best Song in a Movie" in 1994. It was also included in the album *All Time Greatest Movie Songs*, released by Sony in 1999.

"Free Willy" is a 1993 family film directed by Simon Wincer, and released by Warner Bros. under its Family Entertainment label. The film stars Jason James Richter as a young boy who befriends an Orca.

Followed by two sequels and a short-lived animated television series, Free Willy was a critical and financial success, eventually making a star out of its protagonist Keiko. The film also gained a cult following, followed by a series of spoofs on the film's famous climax in popular culture.
