  • Around the time this show aired my bank sent out notices. It turned out that Debit and credit card transactions in a chain called Hannafords were being hacked. I had to get a new debit card because I had shopped there in the month before the notice was released.

  • @NateSean I can see that happening...but really *any* store has the capability of doing it. (without any real "hacking") - the store employees strap on this piggyback card reader to the regular card swiper - you swipe your card, the middle-man device saves the info and passes the scanned info to the legit device...no one but the dude behind the counter knows it. They actually have the same thing for ATMs, complete with a lil camera to record you entering yer PIN :)

  • It kinda amazes me how a country that's so poor has people that can pull off these crimes ....I always think some white nerd would be doing these kinda crimes ...not some guy in africa...i'm not trynna be racist but cmon how many people in africa even know what a computer is let alone use one for profit

  • @PrisonFaces Well the story as I understood it was that it was someone in the actual corporate offices who had been caught doing this. So basically a data miner whose job it is to do the exact opposite, which is tracking fraud, commits it.

    But fortunately my bank account wasn't enticing enough to steal from. I think a four year-old's piggy bank had more money in it at the time.
