More like Sonic Rush Colors. Other names I can think of: "Sonic Rush: Colors Edition", "Sonic Rush 3", and "Sonic Rush 3: Colors".
Done this all in one day. The game is extremely short. Second time going through it.
Latest game in the Sonic series. Eggman has built an amusement park that is powered by some thingies called Wisps. As usual, Sonic comes in to kick some butt. This game plays just like the Sonic Rush games, minus the tricks. New gameplay mechanic is colored Wisps, where collecting one will give Sonic a special ability upon activation for a limited time.
Game info thingy: Just a normal ol' playthrough. The goal is to clear all stages (duh!) and Missions, get all seven Chaos Emeralds, and complete the game not once (for normal ending), but twice (True Final Boss). I'm not worried about rank (besides, I need certain Wisps to get S-Rank anyway) or Red Rings (again, certain wisps are needed, and searching for them is a pain.) I do grab some Red Rings here and there, but other than that, they are avoided. In case of curiosity: collecting Red Rings unlock Illustrations, Sounds, and, upon getting them all, Infinite Boost. The first six Chaos Emeralds are gathered from all six Areas. The seventh one requires going to Sonic Simulator, challenge the CPU, and win the race with at least 50 Rings. I grab the seventh one early. I also skip the tutorials. You're not missing much except that running out of Drill power while underground will kill you. I do get hit a lot. Standard Sonic stuff if you ask me. There might be some inconsistency in Area 2. This was due to me figuring out a way to complete areas (2 Acts, 3 Missions, Boss Act). There MIGHT be some savestate loading. (I definitely need to compile a list of times I use a savestate.)

sonic's character model in this game looks like a sprite from afar, but up close it looks fine.

@MrPwn4cash Well, if it's not a real Sonic game, then how is the word "Sonic Colors" is on the DS box? Not only that, it's been developed by SEGA and licenced by Nintendo. Do your friggin research before you make some dumbass statements.

...Too bad it doesn't have the PA system that the Wii version does (seriously, have you HEARD some of those lines?)

I guess boosting into that first boss is like attacking the Wii version's first boss with LASER!? (Wisps DO deal extra damage to bosses.... and boosting in one specific case that is a spoiler to go into detail about)

WHOA. Found an error in the very first cutscene. Apparently the green (hover) wisp is Wii only. It appears in that cutscene. (best visible at 0:01:30)

you've got to be trolling. Sonic games are about GOING FAST. That makes Sonic Colours a lot more "real" than some of the other games! (I know it wasn't going fast all the time, even as early as the first game, but...)
And the Wii version DOES force you to use the wisps quite a bit - Super Sonic actually causes level changes in some levels to account for the fact he can't use them!)

@MrPwn4cash You don't know anything. DS was hold right to win while the Wii version could kill you for doing that. The wisps suck for the most part on the DS version, as they are forced the whole time. The Wii version made the optional wisps better, so they weren't a crappy forced gimmick.

"its good but its not a real sonic game"
How the fuck is Wii Colors not a real Sonic game but "Rush 3 with Wisps" is? So Sonic Generations isn't a real Sonic game, right?
"you can hold one button and simply move ur thumb till the levels ove"
Did you even play the fucking game?!
"ds version = better wisps"
Bullshit.
"the Wii version almost never forces you to use wisps"
HOW IS THAT A BAD THING, DUMB ASS?!
