Once again, the divine Linda Balgord triumphs over adversity (those who care about her not being a "star" can cry me a river, build me a bridge and get the hell over it) in her amazing turn as Norma.

This is an amazing, intricate, spell binding performance is a force to be reckoned! Three cheers for Linda Balgord!

  • This is my favorite show tune. This lady nails it! Not only is she talented, but beautiful. Even that hideous 1092's make up can't hide her beauty!

  • Linda's a treasure! There's a number of bitchy Petula groupies who'd want this video to be wiped off the face of the earth! You know they keep reporting my Linda Balgord videos? Bitter much? LOL.

  • Only a stupid person can't see this woman is a great performer and a TRUE star. She is one of the best surprises i had recently. Thanks again, HOS, for posting these amazing videos.

  • THANK YOU! This Petula groupies must chewing the edges of their desktops right now! ;-)

  • This is some big production for a tour!

  • ....Which is why they had to fold in about a year.

  • Brava, Miss Balgord. Don't know who I like better...Helen Schneider or Balgord. An even tie for me. Stunning performance!

  • Im in love with her because of her facial expressions & her ability of this character! She is so strong & so deep. Doesnt loose character one bit!

  • Linda Balgord is simply incredible. There are no other words to describe her.

  • Very good, but I think far too young to really convince as a 50 year old!

  • i have a photo w her after the cincinnati show

  • @dametrot True, but then she plagued the US Tour circuit and knocked poor Linda into obscurity.

  • Mesmeric what an amazing performance, I had no idea about this first tour in US.

unfortunately Sunset does seem to require a name as the star just because of the size of original production for what really is just a main cast of 5 or so. (I saw Betty Buckley in london)

even for the revival we've just had which starred Kathryn Evans(who is superb), was tiny but very arty didnt really run cause it needed a big name.

If its any consolation Petula Clark closed the london pretty quickly ...!

  • This is the scene from the musical that ruins the same scene from the movie. In the movie- which admittedly was written to be more bittersweet than dramatic- her reaction to the spotlight is more "oh, okay" and it's just a device to get other characters to notice her. In the musical when the spotlight hits her for the first time in 20 years her reaction is a combination of 'fountain of youth' and orgasm.

  • She's amazing!!! I have goosebumps all over!

(Side note - does anyone know where I can find vids of her in The Pirate Queen? Thanks!)

  • she's very unique. i love her interpretation!

  • I guess so. I don't get any of it. Whay should anyone have it in fro this wonderful lady? BTW, 1092's is a typo. I meant 1920's. LOL
