A cover of Ratatat's 'Seventeen Years' Recorded the audio and video separately then combined them in movie maker. I obviously own none of the rights to the song, but I just got a Line6 toneport and wanted to play around with different settings and see what the whole recording business was like with it. One of the first songs I ever learned seemed like a good place to start.

  • Did u make all the tracks? really well done man, n u have a sick guitar too

  • @loweshaw

Yeah, used a Line6 Toneport GX for the guitar tracks, Fruity Loops for the rest. This was just trying to get used to how the toneport worked, still trying to find an easier way to record but there's a few latancy issues with higher quality recording.

Oh, and thanks. Ibanez RG420EG :)

I Have windows 7 n Ive had a lot a trouble wit the ASIO audio driver used in FL studio 9. Becasue of this it wont let me integrate recording into computer designed audio. Any hints?

  • @loweshaw

I didn't get along with Fruity Loops' recording set up at all, but mainly due to latency issues. I recorded using Audacity (which I still think is free, google it), saved the wav file and imported it into fruity loops. This also meant I didn't end up with like 80 different versions of a riff I wasn't happy with saved in my FL folder. I'm still pretty new to this so I'm probably not the best person to ask, but that's how I recorded this video. Hope that helps.

Ya I have that too actually its kinda nice but I found it choppy when I imported from audacity to FL. Did u import as a beat to slice? and if so what setting did u pick?

I dont mean to throw a barrage a questions at ya but its been botherin me cus Ive got a couple audacity tracks that jus need a little some more, and I think FL will do that

  • @loweshaw

I had the same trouble with the importing a beat to slice function, so I opened Fruity Loops' recording tool and accessed the wav I'd already recorded in Audacity from there. After checking it was ok, I right clicked the window and selected "Send to playlist as audio clip" which renders a standard pattern format for you to manipulate on the timeline. There are probably better ways to do it, but this is what worked for me.

  • So 1:24 it splits, how many different recordings did you piece together to make this... and your chorus sounds awful.

Thanks so much man. Ive been so frustrated with that. Edison audio Editor is great!
