This is a very brave and highly informed interview. This is so rare to find a piece of this caliber in US media.

By the way, David, where were you between 2001and two months ago? I hate to cast a shadow over seriousness of conscious people, like Noam and you. What did you do to prevent a criminal war of aggression against Iraq? Who will pay for Iraq's destruction, loss of human lives, refugees, victims of torture, rape,... people? You seem to have all the answers!

Neither the world cannot be reduced to Iran/US relations, nor could the Iranian history be reduced to two years of Dr. Mosaddeq premiership and the 1953 coup, that most of American Left is interested in. They usually do not talk about the determining role of religious leaders such as Ayatollah Mohammad Behbahani and Kashani in defeating Mosaddeq's national government. Iranians want to move on like other countries did. They have a much bigger enemy to fight for democracy today, that’s despotism.

Enjoy the modern world as you can. Eventually, we will run out of oil. Culture will revert back to what it was centuries ago before modernism. That is where we are headed.

Not fair. Iran is allowed to have nuclear power for generation of electricity. Unlike Pakistan, North Korea and Israel who are not even part of the nuclear NPT. How come the UN does not put sanctions on those nations? The UN knows that thos nations have nuclear weapons.
