Springfield is the third largest metropolis in Missouri, but is remarkably more conservative the two most populous cities: St. Louis and Kansas City. It is home to nearly twenty different colleges and universities the largest of which, Missouri State makes up nearly 10% of the population. Missouri has supported the winner of the presidential election in every year but one since 1904.

  • Springfield is pretty much typical of a city in the heart of the Ozarks, where it is, as well as a city that pretty much lies very close to the dividing line of the Midwest and the South...after all, Arkansas is less than 100 miles to the south. Carbondale, Illinois, Evansville, Indiana, and Portsmouth, Ohio all pretty much have the same culture, values, and attitudes as Springfield, given they all lie right on that same cultural and regional dividing line.

  • this is sad.

  • @ratonnewmex - You're so right, we all know Jesus would condone using "white trash" and "American pigs" in leading others to him... hypocrisy?

  • In Favor of Springfield, When Obama came to speak in Springfield, there wasn't even standing room left the area was so full. It was held at an outdoor arena and it was packed out with people.

  • @danthebard um, Springfield and the surrounding area IS MADE UP OF MOSTLY REDNECKS! DEAL WITH IT!!!!

  • Those racist people are NOT true Christians, they are counterfeit. If Jesus walked the Earth he would say "I don't know you, you workers of lawlessness."

  • I'm glad that you fought for the US you are respected by me. This area Springfield Missouri represents where I am from Southwest Virginia. My area is very conservative, racist rednecks, and a lot of churches that praise God. it is full of small towns.

  • For the record, church and hate are the same business.

  • I have a great education and can get a great job there. Came to town for a weekend visit to investigate whether it was a good place to raise my son and daughter, and was really taken back by the attitude of most of the locals and even the police towards anyone not white and poor. Was actually planning on moving there due to the low cost of living. I now refuse to move there due to the low standard of living and the self-righteous low class of people in control there. The DEVIL rules that town

  • I'm a veteran that fought for my country, while racist back home were hating on my people. I'm a good Christian who loves people simply because they were created by my God. It's the simplest reason to love. I can tell you that with all the good christian people and good old boys in that town, Springfield is not a blessed community, and is being punished by God like all the other similar cities in America. The only big businesses there seems to be the church and hate.
