Boy George suggests to boycott the Football World Cup in South Africa in order to take a stand against throwing lovers into Malawi jails as soon as they get classified as being gay.
Hello, although he laughs now and then in the interview, what he's talking about is very important : Leaders praying for the outcome of the soccer /football-tournament in South-Africa, while in Malawai 2 gay guys were sentenced to 14 year imprisonment because they loved each other. Luckily Ban-Ki-Moon intervened and the President of Malawi in an act of "grace" released them of the sentence, due to international (and also Boy Georges) pressure! Gay♥ and greetz fr Steven of Holebis ♥♂♂,♀♀♥
i don't know but he's just like under the drug effects , he's laughing in the middle on every sentence , he using so many "f" words (sorry gays !!) and he's acting strangly , i don't really feel confortable , honestly !!!
George is acting awfully strange in this video, with all the giggling and flip comments when he is supposedly taking about a serious issue. I hope this isn't true but he is acting like he was when he was on drugs. I have a feeling he's back on them. Will he ever learn?
Another thing people should know is that the anti-gay laws in Africa are left over from colonial times. Their laws haven't been modernized. They were not created by Africans themselves. So we as the West have to take some responsibility for the legacy of colonialism and imperialism on these countries, instead of saying we are better than them.
The World Cup is in South Africa. South Africa unlike other African countries does guarantee either rights for gays and lesbians. South Africa didn't lock up gay men, that was in Malawi. So why boycott South Africa? South Africa is much wealthier than the rest of Africa. The only way to get rid of homophobia is to get rid of poverty and educate people. Wealthy educated countries guarantee gay rights, poor countries generally don't.
After the way England played, I want to boycott every world cup.
