Neglected Walled Garden created in the 1980s from a former WW2 reservoir that served the Royal Ordnance Factory at Risley. It is now in need of restoration. If the Oakwood Gate Rejuvenation Project gets funding and approval, the Walled Garden could form the centrepiece of a new woodland park.

More information about Birchwood's Walled Garden including its history and a photo gallery are available on my website, www.2e-images.co.uk.

  • The Walled Garden is currently overgrown and certainly needs some work to get the full benefit from the space. It is also of historical value to Birchwood and I believe that all of the historical features should be retained, as plans are drawn up to rejuvenate the whole of the Oakwood Gate woodland park area.
