The late Ben Orr, formerly of The Cars. This was recorded live at Boston's City Hall Plaza in June of 1997.
A couple of notables in Ben's band: Rich Bartlett, guitar player for The Fools (thefools-band.com), and Tom Hambridge from TH and the Wreckage.

  • I regret never seeing him in concert....where was this shot? That crowd is lame....look at all those empty seats! Are those lawn chairs?

  • This was at Boston's City Hall Plaza. The only spots where there weren't any people were the aisles and certain spots that Boston Police kept clear....there were over 20,000 people there that night.

  • what year was this? Mid 90's?

  • 1998

  • As a bass player, I have to critique Ben Orr on one point. Why do bass players put down their instrument of choice as soon as they go solo? Ben seems content to strum a few rhythym guitar chords instead of personally laying down the awesome bassline that accompanies this song. Ben Orr was one of my favorite lead vocalists/bassists in rock music. Singing lead and playing bass isn't easy, but Ben Orr made it look effortless.

  • Ben looks and sounds really hot in this video, but I think that shirt makes him look bigger above the waist. Looking at his pants :-) he looks like he is in his perfect weight, but that shirt is just way too old person looking and the print makes him look heavier. He is still very hot! I wish I could have seen that concert, too!!!!

  • I saw him in Tarentum Pa that same summer. His guitarist John Kahlifa (heavy set guy to Ben's left also died a few years after Ben

  • WTF is up with the crowd?? Sitting?? Geezus people...get up off your butts. I hate seeing this kind of crap. Benjamimin sounded great though. :D

  • If there's a RnR Heaven,

u know they gotta Helluva bandleader!

  • New CD release? One option would be to get in touch with someone related to Ben and pose as a businessman interested in releasing a new compilation or box set called "The Ben Orr Experience." I know that he has a son named Benjamin Orr. His son might know who inherited the unreleased master recordings, or at least be able to steer us in the right direction. You have to be confident and creative, otherwise nobody will take you seriously and nothing will be done to release this fantastic music.
