This is one of the clearest and more thoughtful endorsements for affirmative action that I have heard in over 10 years. Rachel Maddow corrects what Pat Buchanan said on her show about race. Her strongest defense was the facts. Buchanan argued that White men, by themselves built this country. While, I'll agree that White men were extremely important to the formation of the US and its defense, it is wrong to suggest that no other races helped defend America. Rachel does a great job in pointing this out.

  • Pat Buchanan is simply an Angry whiteman still living in the past. Sure he wont get his wishes anyway in his lifetime considering the fact the he is old enough to be close to death soon enough...To hell with the white folks who built America with slave labour! Sorry Pat rest in peach

  • You don't create a white supremesist society if you don't have affirmative action. White people still make up the poorest people in our country compared to any other race in our country in numbers. I don't see too many colleges that give alot of money to white people, especially the discriminatory UNCF scholarships that usually allow every other race to be included BUT whites. Talk about institutionalized racism.

  • There is no doubt that Pat Buchanan made some statements that are not only incorrect but racial. Thomas Paine was the originator for the idea of a United States and none of this would be anyones nation without his contribution to it. However, Rachel's endorsement for affirmative action isn't convincing, she just pointed alot of things out about our history. She made no attempt what so ever to say weather affirmative action works, is a good thing in society. or whatever.

  • oh rachel. ilusfm.
