http://kjmagnetics.com - The ferrofluid in this video is in a glass bottle with regular old, store bought rubbing alcohol. This prevents the ferrofluid from sticking to the sides of the glass. The first magnet in the video is a small neodymium cylinder (part # D78). The second magnet used is a medium-sized, neodymium ring (part # RX8CC).

From Wikipedia: Ferrofluids are colloidal mixtures composed of nanoscale ferromagnetic, or ferrimagnetic, particles suspended in a carrier fluid, usually an organic solvent or water. The ferromagnetic nano-particles are coated with a surfactant to prevent their agglomeration (due to van der Waals forces and magnetic forces). Although the name may suggest otherwise, ferrofluids do not display ferromagnetism, since they do not retain magnetization in the absence of an externally applied field.

  • How much ferrofluid did u pute in there?

  • Not very much. Considering the glass bottle is about 20-22 oz. Maybe an ounce or two? A little goes a long way!

  • hmm am i the only one that get's a flashback from spiderman?

  • @jeffreypang911 Yes. As a matter of fact, the rubbing alcohol turned the ferrofluid into a hard, crumbly mess at the bottom of the bottle. Not really sure how long this took to happen but it was likely over a few weeks, versus just a a few days. Although, results may vary I suppose.

  • @TheGoldenRoman it's regular old rubbing alcohol.

  • I heard rubbing alcohal destroys the mixture in days. Is this true? does it still work?

  • some music woulden't be wrong but cool vid

  • @antichrist65535 LOL! It would feel like dying. :P

  • It's awesome, but my parents would kill me if I broke the glass jar on the carpet! XD

  • this is awesome

  • cool...

  • I wonder what it would feel like to drink that stuff then use a super strong magnet to bring it back up out of your tummy O_O
