Thank you for your reply. I read on Gilmourish's website that, for this and one other song, Sir David has his lap steel tuned to Em. I don't really see the need for that as it appears that only one or two strings are being utilized for this solo...in the Em tuning, the higher strings would have the same G-B-E tuning as on a guitar. Do you think this is accurate? Thanks!

@bigwhtpony Accurate maybe. But as you said it is not strictly necessary in case of this song (or the other two that I have covered). Dropped D works fine and is beneficial when you want to stay within the bounds of the scales that you know from general electric guitar, too.

@fedepilar86 You can tune it however you want since no 2 strings are struck at one single moment. So I have just tuned it to dropped D.
