Douglas Adams, author of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," plays with Pink Floyd in celebration of his 42nd birthday. The songs are "Brain Damage" and "Eclipse" and Douglas is playing rhythm guitar. No video was taken of this event, but there is a nice picture of Douglas on stage with David Gilmour that I've included. Hope you enjoy it!

The answer to every question is 42! Don't forget your towel, space is big, really big, and most of all, DON'T PANIC! I'm pissed that both the BBC teleplay or the Mos Def movie version of HGTTG didn't use one iota of Floyd in the soundtrack, it only made perfect sense.

Is there anything this guy didn't do well?
We need someone like Douglas to take civilisation through the 21st century at the correct level of insanity.

Actually, Marvin hums "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" when they first find Magrathea. It's kind of faint, but Arthur mentions it. That only raises the question of where Marvin heard Pink Floyd...

Indeed. Gilmour was in the habit of thanking Roger on the 1994 tour after the performance of "Dark Side". On the official DVD of the Earl's Court Shows, he says, "And my thanks to our old friend Roger, who wrote all of the words I have the pleasure of singing every night." This was the start of the thaw that resulted in Live8 in 2005, methinks.
