  • @AdamCampetti I agree but you always have to find some way to make sure the machines survive the disrespectful people that go in to arcades especially in the 90s when it was dying .

  • @pcvideogamer I think if they also had tournaments at a registration price that could be another way to make them profitable. Have some sort of spectacle people would watch like a King of Kong Tourney. In town here, a race track/arcade spot went out of business in about a month. But they did absolutely no advertising online or in the papers. They didn't even have a guy in the costume standing outside waving people in. Poor management.

  • @AdamCampetti yeah true, i used to build them, repair them, worked in the industry, arcade owners saw profits plummet when consoles arrived, arcade games had to be bigger, better with great graphics etc... but they became more expensive to buy these larger machines, PCB's were on the way out as soon as kids started to play games at home more either on the C64 or whatever and consoles, shame, but the spirit of that era lives on and will never die.

  • Yeah we US folks are fairly Arcady! But we still learn from the beAst!

  • Fun Spot is a perfect example of how and why Arcades can still be a success. There's no way I can be convinced that Arcades would not be profitable. The problem with past arcades not lasting can only be blamed on bad management. It was in the late 90s when arcades really started to go under. It's because arcade owners started charging way too much for arcades. Keep arcades at 25 to 50 cents, reasonable priced food, across from a school.. CHA-CHING!
