Stop fighting boys, both correct, I think, he's using the Atlatl to throw the spear (more precisely the dart). But when you think of the Atlatl, you usually think if it as a system of thrower and darts. When you say spear, you're thinking of the traditional impression of what it is. By the way, if you want to see a cool spear tip, look at 3 Rivers Archery, medieval section.
