.This is a video of me drawing blood from the jugular vein of a dog. As you can see, I did have a little trouble locating the vein. She has a muscular neck and I didn't locate the jugular until I asked the assisting technician to lower her head just a little bit. Once she lowered the head, it was much easier to find the vein.

  • That was a nice dog1

  • What no gloves?

  • needle (whoops not need)

  • I'd show you how it's done on a fish, but I couldn't film and do it at the same time, plus didn't have the camera set up anyway. (It's the caudal tail vein located just behind the anal fin. You have to ancor the need just so and almost like you're pointing it at the anal fin but also it's down, ohh you'll have to have someone explain it better than I can LOL :)

  • Hard to do, um. I've only drawn one with help. I can only manage the cephalic and probably the lateral saphenous, although I've draw 2 blood sample via caudal tail vein in 2 blue catfish. Dern jugular! Hardest dang vein to access. Ahh pooh. :{
