Jeb Hensarling is the biggest hypocrite on Earth. He acts like an anti-earmark crusader, yet, he allocated $332,000 to a school in his Texas District to design a sidewalk. Don't believe me? McCain called him out on it on Twitter.
A lot of it does go to their bottom line. But money is pointless in the abstract it must be spent. But the rich don't buy cheap crap from china. They buy high end American goods Such as Mercedes or a Cadillac's which are built in Detriot or South Carolina. Yatchts made in Maine. Homes that hire gardners etc. All of these luxury goods hire blue collar workers.
But the rich get richer by investing in their businesses which creates incentives to hire American workers invest in capital.
Again its not a question of do we have tax cuts its how do we have tax cuts. When we raise taxes that increases the incentive to fire their workers so they can stop paying payroll taxes or outsource jobs to other countries. There is also the finding or creating tax loopholes something that isn't available to small companies. Rich companies like rich individuals will just hire financial advisers. A lot of it does go to their bottom line. But money is pointless in the abstract it must
I disagree, the tax cuts that big business gets goes more for the Owners bottom line, than trickle down. Don't get me wrong, I think that any Owner of a company can do what he damn well pleases, I just do not believe that it trickles down like the GOP says. It doesn't and I see it in every company I have worked for. A lot of large corps have Swiss accounts.
Well even if that does happen how do they build it their malibu dream home. They hire a lot of blue collar workers to build the dang thing. But while he is living it up others are investing in their businesses hoping to take more of the business from the guy who just built his dream home.
Well do you really think large corporations pay their tax bill? Its like the super rich they get tax deductions for everything. The Dems wanted to give tax cuts to the Movie industry but not to others.
I am not as optimistic on how the owners of the contracting company I worked for would spend their money. I think they would more likely build a beach front home on Maui! That is exactly what one of them did, which is cool, they deserve it, but to say that giving a tax cut for large corporations and saying that it will trickle down is "pardon my french" bullshit!
Well if they had a cut in the corporate income tax the contractor would spend less on taxes and more on their businesses which would have the same effect as a stimulus with out the trillion dollars worth of debt. People would have more the invest save and spend.
What I don't like about stimulus spending is that it creates unfunded mandates when the economy recovers they will won't cut spending. Stimulus is supposed to be counter cyclical more spending in down times cut backs in good times.
Good idea about taking the healthcare costs away from UAW and put them in a Medicare type system. I think that is the "public option" that the Congress is talking about now. I am fighting hard for that. Much of the stimulus money is for states to help with the unemployment and I am all for that. I think that if a Senator voted against that, whether R or D, their state should NOT get the money. I am tired of hearing NO, without any better ideas. I am open to the ideas but they are not there!
Yes, I know it was proposed by Republicans, I don't always agree with my own party. I have not always voted for a Democrat. I don't think the stimulus is a trickle down issue. I worked for the largest school contractor in Southern California and I can tell you that stimulus money helps a lot of people. I have also worked for the largest HVAC/Plumbing contractor is Las Vegas. They were Union and did very well. Con't
