Perfect Dark Gaia

Here's the match against Perfect Dark Gaia, the final final boss in the game. Dark Gaia realizes that it's not going to be able to beat Sonic and the Gaia Colossus together, so it cranks things up a notch and becomes Perfect Dark Gaia. The first thing it does is to spread the seven "snake things" (as Chip calls them) into a circle, forming a force field around Perfect Dark Gaia. Sonic also kicks up the pace and becomes Super Sonic. The majority of the battle is about taking down that force field.

It looks pretty hit-or-miss, but there is a winning strategy in order to do things quickly. First of all, you're better off going clockwise (viewed from above), as the snake things pop in and out. You can catch them exposed more often going in this direction. Perfect Dark Gaia has a set pattern. Secondly, at about 1:30 and 2:20, Perfect Dark Gaia will try to attack Super Sonic, with a barrage of explosive boulders followed by a laser beam. (You won't see it here, but this double attack also happens at about 3:40.) When the timer approaches, you should make Super Sonic fly down near the bottom of the barrier, as there are no rocks to get in Super Sonic's way down there. Otherwise, they can come at you without you having enough time to react.

By the way, Super Sonic has 3 hit points. The sperm-like things, the boulders, and the floating rocks take away 1 point if you hit them, and Dark Gaia's laser takes away 2 points.

Once Super Sonic rams into each of the seven snake things four times each, the shield will dissipate. This is when there's one last Quick Time Event that ends in the defeat of Perfect Dark Gaia.

Getting an S-Rank in this stage requires a score of 100,000 or above. Needless to say, the time is important; odds are you won't get the S-Rank if you take more than 10 minutes combined (between the regular Dark Gaia battle and this one). In addition, the Enemy stat is crucial too. 4500 points go in here each time the Gaia Colossus punches a boulder as it rushes towards Dark Gaia. In order to get the S-Rank, essentially, you must perform everything fast and punch a lot of boulders.

  • Hey Overhazard, What final boss song you like most? Perfect Dark Gaia or Egg Nega Wisp?

  • @KirbyDude10001 Egg Nega Wisp. But I'm not too fond of either.

  • look person there were over 100 rings there between the rocks . i would know i beat it

  • @jonmaxham Yes, I found out later. I never noticed the Rings when I played this.

  • Is it just me, or this is the hardest final boss battle in Sonic history? Do you know how many times I died playing this?? >__<

  • @Burblez I'd say the hardest one is the final boss of Sonic 2 (16-bit) as Knuckles. His jump is just high enough to reach the Egg battlesuit's claws.

  • the only kinda hard part on this boss perfect dark gaia is when you gotta press X x60 i mean what the fuck is up with that

  • @Overhazard the real hardest sonic boss is lancelot returns

  • i got his game on wii and i thought from lookin at this vid that the answer why this was better was WHY THE FUCK WOULD SEGA MAKE A GOOD GAME FOR NINTENDO?!

  • This part was fun. It was easy too. The only hard part is part 1, which is when you control chip then sonic 3 times.

  • I'm talking out the sequence where Sonic turns into a werehog for the first time.

  • Rhthym & Hues Studios did the opening sequence part, probably.

  • 3:40 FALCOM PUNCH!!!

  • @Burblez I managed to complete this game on my first try and didn't find it too difficult. But I think it's because I already played loads of Sonic the Hedgehog games before so I think it really depends on how good you are at sonic games in my point of view, but I could be wrong. ;)

  • yall crazy if you think the wii/ps2 version is harder than this one...

  • I had troble beating him in wii
