Sainte foy has excellent off piste and is not too far from Tignes. Ntn bindings totally release in a big enough crash

@tylero1985 No.There are telemark bindings with release function. You can have ski stoppers as well. Telemark equipment is found in a wide variety from old-school simple bindings to very burly stuff with stability similar to alpine gear.

@tylero1985 It might be with 75mm-bindings, but with the newer NTN-bindings you do have a "pop off-mechanism" which you can of course adjust to match your weight. NTN = new norm telemark. Look'em up! ;)

@tylero1985 Yes. Telemark bindings are much more dangerous because they don't have a release mechanism. Even if they do release they will still fall with you because they are attached to your boots by ski leashes. Bad news if you're on extreme terrain.
