This song is recorded at 1931, by The Boswell Sisters acc. by The New Yorkers: Frank Guarente or Charlie Margulis, Mannie Klein, Billy Moore (tpt) Tommy Dorsey, unknown (tbn) Jimmy Dorsey (cl, as) two unknown (as) Larry Binyon (ts) Joe Venuti, two unknown (vln) unknown (p) Eddie Lang (g) Joe Tarto or Artie Bernstein (sb) Chauncey Morehouse (d) Victor Young (cond) New York
. Words and Music by Gerald Marks and Buddy Fields. It`s a bit rare. I can`t call it a typical "Boswell" song...but (ofcourse) it`s still excellent!

  • @RRaquello After this movie, This song became a top hit of 1931 and many AWESOME versions are on records from this era. I JUST LOVE IT!

  • This song was used in the early James Cagney movie "Blonde Crazy" and I've always thought it was a great tune, but it never became a standard. (in the film it was just interpolated in the background, & not used as a full fledged musical number) It must be rare because I've been trying to find a full copy of it for a while. I have lots of Boswell Sisters stuff, but never knew they did this song. Glad to find it here.

  • Sweet may be the Victor Young touch - those are the Dorseys, Venutti and Lang, Manny Klein, and Stan King in the orchestra and they hardly ever get called sweet :)

  • Well, the song is done too much on the "sweet" side for a Boswell recording. But their vocal, which is probably all theirs, is typical of their style.
