Conservatives Quebec Attack Ad on Michael Ignatieff FAILs

Like many of you, we were dismayed and disgusted by the latest round of CPC attack ads. In our society, we teach our children that bullying and name-calling and lying is wrong, but the Prime Minister and his party somehow think that using such tactics is justified. We want our leaders to think of what's best for the country, for the people who need jobs and infrastructure and a clean environment and funding for the arts and for science, leaders who will stand up for human rights, for women's rights, here in Canada and around the world.

In one of the ads airing on French television, the Conservatives attempt to stir up bad feelings against Michael Ignatieff by making an issue of his accent. But as far as we can tell, it is only this ad itself which sets up some kind of standard for accents. Ignatieff has never "boasted" about speaking with a French accent from France, and Quebeckers aren't sitting around with score cards rating French accents either. It is the Conservatives themselves who have created this tiered system in their own imaginations. We find this insulting to French Canadians and in fact to all Canadians. Again, the Conservatives feel that the best strategy is to provoke and incite division and hostility among Canadians. Is this the proper attitude for the government party? Of any political party?

The worst thing that ever happened to Canada was making it a bilingual country. English Canada has come to despise Quebec. Quebec is a self-proclaimed nation unto itself that continues to hold Canada hostage to it's demands. Quebec has become a burden upon the rest of the country both financially and spiritually. We can't even give it away to the USA. Nobody wants Quebec and we are stuck with it. As for the video, who gives a fuck?
