Founded in 2008, this is the first and only all-bass-saxophone-quartet ever. The German players and composers Dirk Raulf, Wollie Kaiser, Andreas Kaling and Jan Klare play their original compositions as well as own versions of rock and pop tunes. This is a version of Led Zep's STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN, arranged for bass sax quartet by Dirk Raulf. Played live in Cologne on august 12th, 2009. Video: Sasha Kisselkova. Sound: Ansgar Ballhorn. • Since Tenor Sax is in Bb and so is bass sax, if i buy the sheet music for this i could play all the parts with a tenor?

  • @BaritoneSaxKing Theoretically: yes.

  • Sounds like ducks.

  • @NicChambers93 Only problem is that when playing on instruments with high back pressure (like a trumpet) puffing your cheeks while playing can really fuck up your face (Dizzy Gillespie).

However, I don't know if bass sax has a lot of back pressure so it may not be a problem (tubas have almost no back pressure so puff all you want on it, for example). And a general exception is you do what you can for low notes.

  • @NicChambers93 Well, Puffing out your cheeks can give you a louder sound without over playing, as long as you keep a good embouchure.

  • @randywilson95 True

  • 4th part at 2:30 is so awesome

  • @BaritoneSaxKing u may have to jump some of it up an octave

  • @danny55531 yup, i play bari so i kinda have to know that :D

  • Does it use a tree for the reed?!

  • @MrPranoy no, contabass is much bigger. these are bass saxez

  • IT IS LITERLY A EARGASM. AWSOME. but question, any one of those saxes are contrabrass?
