my son is 8 and is a first time pitcher also.I wont let him wind up. just strech.then come to a pause then deliver.

Different things work for different people, we just try to make him feel comfortable on the mound. He also seeemed to have more velocity from the wind up, and since we aren't holding runners on, we just went with it. But now he is doing both and quite a few adjustments have been made.

I guess cause he was 8 when the video was taken and never pitched before. We just wanted him to get comfortable on the mound. Notice no wild pitches, accuracy, and nice speed for 8. He just turned 10 and he looks quite a bit different now.
