In the neighbourhood of Strumica I've visited a bagpiper in a very small village.
That village is situated in a region very close to the border of Bulgaria.
The bagpiper showed me a special gajda. He told me a Bulgarian man had flied from Bulgaria to Makedonija in time of communism.
He was able to make gajdi, but a type of bagpipe which bagpipers used in Bulgaria.
In the river-area of river Struma in Bulgaria bagpipers played on the so called shutarka gajda.
That type of gajda is small and has a high pitch. Mostly D or higher.
The gajda in this video is tuned in D. The chanter has big holes, therefore the sound is sharp.
The stocks in which you put the chanter and drone are wooden stocks, not horns.
About 1984 bagpipers used this type of gajda. Nowtoday it is over. Very beloved was the tune Soborsko. In this video I play this tune.
It was possible for me to buy this gajda and I like to play this gajda.
The video starts with pictures of this special gajda. After the pictures I play an oro from Bulgaria,
from River-area of River Struma followed by Soborsko oro
