Weird.. I remember hearing Antony and the Johnsons back in 2000 on a split cd released with Current 93. Now, here they are playing on David Letterman on tv! I have to say I am surprised that they became popular. Generally mainstream music listners have very shallow tastes.

I have attempted to understand the hype the Guardian has lavished this ensemble. I respect the talents but it's just that vibratto of his voice that just feels irritating.

I agree with you, but, at the same time there is music that stirs the soul that only people capable of going that deep can appreciate. Justin Bieber is a teeny bopper sensation who has not reached that depth, nor have his fans.
