Jerry Rawlings, ex President of Ghana joins June Arunga, a Kenyan law student, on a journey through Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Along the way they focus on key issues like slavery, colonialism, globalisation and leadership, debating whether external or internal factors have had the greatest influence in Africa.

  • The only people who hate Rawlings are those (they and their family) who he seized the stolen wealth of the country from. Those who came to power & within 2 years owned 12 to 20. Those who were not able to account for wealth they had amassed in those short periods of being in power.

And of course those who thought deserved to be President but couldnt be because of Rawlings. He saved us.Lives improved.Food supply increased greatly. Ghanaians no longer had to go to Nigeria to seek greener pastures.

  • This man brought a lot of hope to Ghana. He came to power via a coup so what? If someone removes Mugabe from power throuigh a camp, won't you guys be happy. When Rawlings took over, Ghana's economy was in serious decline, recording negative growth rate for over 10 years. Ghanaians were running to Nigeria to seek greener pastures. Power lied in the hands of only the central Government, inflation was around 126%. There was famine in Ghana. Before he left, EVERY SECTOR had improved massively

  • @peasah2005 Buddy am not a Rawlings fan but i can assure that Nkrumah was just as wicked

  • @fantibird

Doctor Kwame Nkrumah brought so much into Ghana and that's why they couldn't stand him, because he was inspiring us and he sent Ghana into a new dawn of getting us to control our destiny.

Rawlings isn't a hero of Ghana, because he brought misery into our country and as far as I am concerned Rawlings is a wicked man.

Nkrumah all the way for me.

  • @Seltue12

I echo you my brother, because Rawlings is a bloodied moron, this man brought totally tragedy in Ghana.

Remember, he came into power by a coup.

Rawlings brought misery into Ghana and he ain't my hero, thank God.

  • Africa's natural resources are now being traded in exchange for toxic gabage dumping on African soil. Africans buy toxic waste materials and dump them in Africa. When they rub shoulders with the Queen Elizabeth and other western leaders, they fail to understand that the western leaders consider them brainless baboons! How can anyone with brains allow its citizens be poisoned by toxic second hand materials coming from EU?They are knowingly participating in the killing of Africans!!!!

  • Africa hasn't been controlled properly, because we've got useless so-called leaders that don't even know how led us in the right direction.

I would say today's leaders who are fighting for our continent have been Brother Robert Mugabe and Sister Winnie Mandela and as for the rest, they are still worthless leading us astray and making our continent lag so behind.

  • With people like you, we shall continue to be fooled by those that are pretending they are doing something when in reality, they are doing nothing!

  • If asking for equality, fairnes and justice from Rawlings and his co African gods who are fooling us without the right democratic choice at the Africa Union, then let it be. Why is Rawlings shouting all over the place as a believer of democracy yet see no sense in the people of Ghana voting directly in the election of the president of the Africa Union authority?

  • That is a good point to make just for not liking the way think. Is that not some people are saying about JJ Rawlings? Is that not what some people said about Jueses Christ? Then it is OK for us to seen as MAD by people like you.
