I was in my late 40'sand early 50's when I performed the skills presented in this video. Now more than ever I realize that seasoned MMA or Close Quarter Combat Warrrior/Athelete must cultivate and refine skill internally and externally. The spiritual warrior values training. The warrior scholar values research. Training, research and reflection and their application in form and function helps one become a Master of the 10,000 Things of Heaven and Earth. What the East has brought to us in the 20th Century is a refined fusion of Mediteranian and Persian mental, physical and spiritual discipline. We must recognize this and build upon it knowing that it will be distinctive. Read this MMA article to know the value of research and training for the Western Pugilist: http://www.headkicklegend.com/2011/11/4/2538105/the-pugilist-nick-diaz-daniel...
In the third century BCE, the Greeks went to India. The Hindus respected them for their culture as well as for their fighting spirit. One proof of this is that among all other "barbarians," only the Greeks were considered "humans" by the orthodox Hindus, who classified the Javanas (their name for the Greeks) in the ksatriya warrior caste. The interaction between Greek religion and philosophy and Buddhism created the Greco-Buddhist art of Gandhara and Mahayana Buddhism. In 530 CE, then, Buddhism was well established in China, in spite of the reactions of the local Taoist priests. And so we come to the case of Bodhidharma. His name means "He who brings the Wisdom-Method."
When he went to the Shaolin temple in China and reached the height of his powers, he established a system of sudden enlightenment based on his own background in ksatriya-derived yogic breathing and on the dhyana meditation he studied as a Mahayana Buddhist exercise. The legend tells us that he taught the monks two practices: one meant to strengthen the organism and the physical body (yi gin ching) and one to transform sexual energy into spiritual power (shi sui ching). He taught the Buddhist asceticism of the Lankavatara Sutra. Clearly, what he wanted to pass on to the monks was the concept of warrior virtue and how it could be combined with Buddhism.
All martial arts, at their higher level, are characterized by breathing and kinesiological particularities, which aim at the distribution of bioenergy. For example, the Taoist martial arts, Indian kalari payat, and Japanese jujutsu are each individually characterized by specific types of breathing and styles of movement. As we have seen, it is likely that pammachon had a similar set of breathing exercises aimed at controlling and using bioenergy, which the Greeks called pneuma.

Eastern strategies and tactics added to Western Pugilism is the foundational force behind the creation of Wuwater Tigerboxing. At the time of finding these truths of integration I did not know that what I was discovering was akin to the ancient way of Greek Highhanded Pugilism (striking and grappling)... a special type of Pankration/Pammachon peformed by Timithesius when he battled Milo in an Olympic competition. It is called Akrocherismos or Highhanded kato Pankration.
The form that I created to perfect my technique was probably very close to the Greek Pyrric that the ancient Pelagian Greeks practiced and created for themselves. Research indicates that family martial systems in Greece and China were established in tbis way. These early discoveres should be held as an example of what a Warrior Scholar can accomplish with research, practice, meditation and a sense of independent spirit to find ones inner voice. From thes discoveries and their evolvement I have enriched my life through embodying the 3 Treasures. Becoming a Centurian though these practices is my present goal as I must master the 8th method of Liuhebafa: Concealing strength and feigning weakness through a growing compassion for life and those trying to find it on their path. From these early beginnings I now practice Metta Meditation and Karmamudra along with bonemarrow washing and Asana/Qigong/Taiji/Pammachon discipline. The many souls of Angel's Gym helped my in this quest and they have my thanks ... Specifically for this presentation my thanks go to Master Rodgers, Zeus and former student Rivera (Riv, who was a 2009 IKF State Muay Thai & NAGA Regional Champion now a Tuff-enuf MMA fighter under the Wandelie Silva Camp) for thier part in this pesentation....
