  • actually all the bullet train rails are raised about 50-70 feet above the ground, and so roads will never intersect with the tracks.

    It's also amazing to note that during the shinkansen's 44 year, 7 billion passenger history, there have been no passenger fatalities due to derailments or collisions.

    And, they are punctual to within 6 seconds of their estimated schedule time.

    Amazing!
