  • I own several real (old) synths that have VSTi counterparts and yes, you CAN hear the difference in most cases if you compare one solo lead of the VST to one solo lead of the real thing. But not many people release music consisting out of only solo instruments on old analogue gear.

As soon as you start mixing all these different VST emulations of real synths, the difference becomes less obvious. In a mix, a song made with good VST modules can come very close to the real thing.

  • Continued... To those that prefer VSTs, your ears were probably Made in China.

  • @fender1000100 Can I have some of your crack please? I hear it's nearly 100% pure.

For those that own have owned the original hardware, a VST will always represent ease of use (maybe some additional features that remove the character and the point of the original instrument), exclusively.

The most impressive emulation I've seen is the OP-X and even that has a horribly weird compressed mid-range.

Being a good musician and having good ears can be mutually exclusive. To those that like VSTs, yo

  • @Theotim92 Tried Uhe Diva?

  • To get analog sounds, there only one thing to do : get an analog synth.

After 10 years using VSTi, I'm back to hardware analog synths (Tetra and more to come).

VSTi still have lack of depth and bass. If you want decent sound, you have to add lot of effects.

With my hardware synth, it sounds good even without any effect.

Maybe in the future, VSTi could compete with hardware digital synth at least... but analog ones are difficult to modelize, I don't see how they could do in the near future.

  • @bryceHUHwhat I have this plugin and most of the sounds I use sound nothing like this either I use it alot more for pads and strings and stuff the Juno 60 is known for

  • Great VST, but not as a substitute for a Juno.

  • This sounds better than a real juno without the weight and expense very well done

  • monopoly soft synth is close to the original:> they will never be the same but

sometimes the trying gives you different sounds which are handy.

  • Nice track !
