At dachshund field trials, dachshunds are judged on how well they track rabbits. The dachshunds compete in pairs, called a brace. Dylan is an 8 month old red piebald mini smooth. Pi is a 13 year old black and tan piebald mini smooth, who has qualified several times at field trials before. The judge has told us where the rabbit was spotted and the direction of travel, so we are getting the dogs started on the scent line. Once the dogs have the scent, we release them, and then they are judged on how well they work on their own. Dylan did pretty well and ended up getting third place on this day.
