  • Brilliant guitarist. No doubt about that. The dvd?I found it frustrating. So much so it makes one want to just put the guitar down.

  • Could you explain how it was frustrating? Was the pacing too fast - too slow, camera work wrong, assumes too much prior knowledge / too little, irrelevant content, ??? We're a small company (two guys plus the various teachers) so feedback is always appreciated. Please send an email if you would.

  • where do you get his lessons

  • Direct from learn roots music d*t c*m - or you can order through your local music store, distributed by Mel Bay.

  • Lots of times I'll buy an instructional video more wishing that I could play like that than actually thinking I was ready for it. When I'm on level 3 and buy a level 1,256 instruction video, it's a challenge not to just lay the blame on the video being too confusing, hard to understand, they teacher just playing over my head - all of which was true for me at that time. I just wasn't ready for that level of instruction.

  • I found all his DVD excellent! This particular one, though, more than the others, requires a student to be somewhat advance in theory. Moreover, it expected you to know a thing or two about jazz music, and jazz harmony. Only then you will truly enjoy this lesson. If you never played and improvised over jazz progressions before it could be harder. I personally, really love it and thks to Paul, I learned a lot!

  • He is one of the legends! Wait till later to you see and hear what Paul grows into. He's not even greased up yet. He might become one of the worlds top guitar players in his class, if not already.

Thank for posting this. Put some more up!

    Keep On Picking!

  • cool : )

  • dude I love your music and your a fellow canadian which makes it so much cooler. I'm buying your dvd online right now.

  • I've got his Rockabilly and Travis picking DVD's. Incredible instruction and an awesome player. Will have to get this one too!

  • Paul is f***in' great! Got 3 of his DVD's...Picked up some stuff from each that I can use at shows...and I play 4 or 5 times a week. But as far as his Jazzin' DVD...he talks about major & minor scales & arpeggios...then there's a little break & he comes back and say's, "OK, now that you have all your scale's down...let's move on..." not that it's bad...it's just kind-a funny...you'd have to practice yer butt off for a few months...not frustrating though...just eye opening....thanks Paul...

  • @hammill444 dude...that's what it's all about....not putting it down...don't give up..ever...

  • I have this same DVD and it's brilliant! Paul is an awesome teacher. I think it would help if there was an actual paper note inside explaining that the PDFs of the TABs were included. A lot of folks don't know that....
