@IEKUKATAKA Why do I practise all of those? - to be a well rounded fighter. If I get attacked and the fight hits the floor, I can defend myself, I wont get my head stamped. Karate guys who think they know how to grapple really, REALLY don't. I thought I knew a bit, then I got my arse handed to me by a BJJ blue belt.

How am I deluded? Is it because I don't use falcon death grips? What can George Andrews teach me that I can't learn else where? I'm sure he's a great Karateka though.

@Toxeh You are just another deluded westerner that sees only himself. Look up George Andrews and have him explain what karate really is, I feel sure he will tell you it is the cultural product of Okinawa and not just a name. BTW, if you had just studied real karate, like Goju ryu, you would not have needed all of the other. I can not imagine how you would need all of that to defend yourself, you either have another motive or you have little ability.

@IEKUKATAKA Karate is what you want it to be, Karate is just a name. Karate for me is hand to hand combat of any kind, it doesn't need to have an origin. It just happens that I studied JKA Shotokan Karate, which is a Japanese evolution of Karate. I also do Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, and practise Thai Boxing and Western Boxing techniques. This has become part of MY Karate. MY Karate is about becoming as efficient at fighting as possible, what's yours about?
