I think the only true statement is, until Tiger wins 18 majors, he can't be considered better than Nicklaus. This is statement not even considering that he's had the benefit of better equipment and weaker competition.

Jack was a far better golfer then Tiger. I said it, the thing that makes tiger look so good is his competition is week, I said it, Jack would win 30 majors today if he played against guys that Tiger has too. Hell Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and even Lee Trevino would pack Tiger's lunch in their prime, I said it, Jack drives the ball better he is a better long iron player he is a better clutch putter the only reason Tiger has a better short game is euipment. Jack wouldbeat Tiger easy.

@BradCarter1888 'Jack was a far better golfer then Tiger' = Rubbish, and what's equipment got to do with the price of fish?? if anything it's closed the gap between the great and the rest, and to say Jack was a better clutch putter than Tiger is just plain stupid, until a few years ago Tiger made every clutch putt that mattered, the biiger the occasion the more automatic he was, thinking US Open, Bay Hill x 2, Dubai, US PGA etc etc etc etc Jacks great, but seriously you shouldn't dis Tiger

We will never know if either era was better than the other, i just like the fact that both were and are terrific golfers!

People will argue about who was the better golfer probably forever, and I doubt anyone changes anyone else's mind one way or the other. But this much is clear; there's no doubt who is the better man. And in the final analysis, isn't that most important of all? And it's a helluva tie-breaker...

@thestuvylives the cool thing was that Nicklaus didn't like his footing on the tee, so when he took the time to get comfortable and find a spot to tee his ball, that gave Weiskopf time to answer Nantz's question thoroughly. But, you're right, what he said was brilliant. And, he knew to finish his thoughts just as Nicklaus was about to take the club back. A veteran broadcaster move from a non broadcaster.

@herbfletcher Ballesteros made stupid mistakes the entire week. He could've won that tournament by 5 shots. The guy that should be kicking himself over the 1986 Masters is Tom Kite. Short birdie misses at 10, 14, and 18 on Sunday. Then there's Norman, but he's been through enough.
