Cheetah kills wildebeest calf

As the Wildebeest calf haplessly entered the treeline, the cheetah took off after it. Managing to track this haphazard pursuit through the woodland was difficult, but one still gets a sense of the frenetic nature of the chase.

The wildebeest was surprisingly evasive but in the end the cheetah was too strong and fast for the little calf.

Once the prey had been subdued, a little more cheetah character emerged. These cats have to recover after searing runs like this one, and the cat immediately dragged the prey into the shade of a small acacia while it rested, all the while looking nervously around.
