Recorded live at the California Mid State Fair in Paso Robles, July 31, 2002. Southern rock lost another brother of the road this past week with the passing of Hughie Thomasson of The Outlaws and Lynyrd Skynyrd. For me the highlight of Skynyrd shows while Hughie was in the band was his solo intro to Sweet Home Alabama. This is my favorite version of this solo. The second half of the solo is based on the riff to "Sign Of The Times", a Skynyrd track that was only released on the Japanese version of their album "Twenty".

  • Do you have this in full with Sweet Home Alabama?

  • Sure do! I'll post the rest next time I get a chance.

  • This Intro has to bring a smile to the face of Ed King, and I am sure that RVZ would be stomping some bare footed approval. I never saw HT w/ Skynyrd, only W/ The Outlaws, but I know how tight all of these guys are. St. Peter had to meet Hughie at the gates and ask him to stick around for some R&R.

  • I still cant believe they are almost all gone-Hughie,Billy, Danny Joe,Duane Allman, Duane Roland, Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, Dean,Toy, Tommy, Allen. If i forgot anyone -im sorry. I feel really old now. Rock ON
