Here's the original song 'Die Moritat von Mackie Messer' from the 'Threepenny opera' sung by Bertolt Brecht. He wasn't a great singer but I like it anyway. I hope you like it too and enjoy the original version!

I do not own the music.

English translation (part 2): Jenny Fowler was found | With a knife in her breast, | And on the waterfront goes Mack the Knife, | Who knows nothing about anything. | And the big fire in Soho— | Seven children and an old man. | In the crowd is Mack the Knife, | Whom no one questions and who knows nothing. | And the under-age widow, | Whose name everyone knows, | Woke up and was raped. | Mack, what was your price? |

That was part of Brecht's plan. He wanted to destroy any immersion that could be created by the play, as he wanted the audience rather to start thinking about the social and ethical themes of this story, than about the story itself. He called this the "Distancing Effect"
