  • its a shame... it seems like everytime a conductor chooses to cut pieces out of the messiah this one always ends up being one of them for some reason. its one of my favorites.

  • Lovely! The first time we hear the word "Jesus" in Messiah. Charles Jennens knew what he what he was doing chosing this piece of scripture at this point. "Who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" followed by the profound "If God be for us" only to be sealed by the victorious "Worthy is the lamb" and "Amen". Listen to the simple alto line in the last two bars, glorifying Jesus by blasting us with the powerful dominant 7th/tonic cadence....just in case we hadn't got the message!

  • Beautiful!

  • My most favourite chorus from the Messiah

  • I Cor 15:57
